For a facility to become established in g1 practices, everyone plays a key role—including event planners, decorators, contractors and attendees. Each are encouraged to respect the environment and provide a helping hand while in the DLCC. To recognize visitors and attendees who provide a helping hand, the DLCC established g1 buttons.
When visiting the Center, attendees are encouraged to use the proper container when deposing of trash. If a member of the g1 patrol witnesses you performing any g1 practice, you could be rewarded for being environmentally aware with a g1 button!
The g1 button is a flattened recycled bottle cap with the g1 logo coupled with a small magnet. This button allows the g1 logo to be displayed as a label pin.
Levy Restaurants, the exclusive in-house food service provider, supplies the bottle caps from prior events at the DLCC. They are recycled!
The DLCC staff worked with local school students to use a press vise to flatten the bottle caps by hand. Then the flattened caps receive a g1 sticker and a small magnet. The result: a usable recycled button.
There is no specified day or time. When the environmentally-aware visitor is caught, a button is given.
Visitors and attendees who receive a bottle cap button for participating in the DLCC's greening efforts are encouraged to wear the button proudly for everyone to see. It is an honor to be "caught" doing something green.
No, it is a reward for being green.
